Do you want to continue your studies after graduating and are wondering where to study Vocational Training in Madrid? Madrid is undoubtedly one of the best places to do so. This is because it has a wide range of options and centres to choose from, which will help you open many doors for your future career.

Nowadays, vocational training studies represent one of the main attractions in the labour market. In fact, it is estimated that, by 2030, 65% of job offers will be aimed at vocational training graduates. In recent years, the lack of intermediate-level professionals in Spain has led to a strong demand for this type of profile, which is notable for its high practical component.

This situation is more than evident in cities such as Madrid, which has an enormous production network, made up mainly of the industrial and service sectors. Each year, numerous companies choose Madrid as the location for their headquarters where, naturally, qualified professionals are required.

Types of Vocational Training available in Madrid

In the Vocational Training Institutes of Madrid, it is currently possible to find two types of vocational training depending on the educational level: basic, intermediate, advanced and dual. But the most important ones are intermediate and advanced vocational training.

Intermediate Vocational Training

These are studies that form part of post-compulsory secondary education and have a duration of two years. They lead to a technical qualification in the profession corresponding to the cycle studied. On completion, it is possible to enter the labour market or to continue studying through a higher level cycle.

Advanced Vocational Training

Advanced vocational training cycles are part of higher education and have a duration of 2,000 hours spread over two academic years. Upon completion of studies, an advanced technician qualification is awarded, which provides access to the labour market as well as to a university course.

Phases of the admission process for Vocational Training in Madrid

The different phases of the admission process are as follows:

  • Calendar publication: announcement of the key dates of the process. They may vary depending on the year, but they are normally published between February and May.
  • Consultation of the training offer from the centres: each institute publishes the places and the training offer available.
    • The Community of Madrid provides information on the necessary documents that the applicant must present to complete the process and the criteria that will be considered when assigning the available places.
  • Submission of the application and documentation: it can be submitted either at the centre or online, but always within the established deadlines.
  • Results consultation: once the application period has ended, the lists of those provisionally admitted are published in each center.
  • Allocation by the centre: the institutes publish the places allocated to each student.
  • Enrolment: if a place is available, the student may enrol within the established dates.

In the event that you do not get a place in any of the centres you have applied for, you can wait for the list of vacant places to be published and apply to be admitted. If you are still not successful, however, you will have to look for other options. It is strongly recommended that you apply for a place in more than one centre or training cycle and that, before doing so, you find out about the demand at each institute in order to have a better chance of success.
