The stage of Compulsory Secondary Education (E.S.O.) is a period of significant change and transformation in students’ lives.
At Mirasur School, both the teaching staff and the Guidance Department support students throughout this transitional and developmental stage, where academic foundations are strengthened, and essential skills for their future are developed.

Our Approach
At Mirasur School, teachers design and plan learning through inquiry, connecting different areas of knowledge in an interdisciplinary way. This approach is progressively developed within the Middle Years Programme (MYP), where students learn how to investigate, actively engage in their learning process, and reflect on what they have learned, consolidating their understanding through tools such as reflective journals.
In the final year of the MYP (Year 10 / 4th year of ESO), students complete the Personal Project, an individual learning experience in which they apply the competencies and skills they have acquired. Through the exploration and investigation of a topic of personal interest, students develop autonomy, organisational skills, and critical thinking.
Throughout the programme, students take part in Service as Action activities, focused on social, community and environmental initiatives. These experiences foster active engagement, responsibility, and awareness of their local and global context.

We encourage healthy lifestyles through sport and physical activity, while also supporting emotional wellbeing through initiatives such as Respira Mirasur, close pastoral care, academic and personal guidance, and the support of our school counselling and psychology services.
An international education
As an international bilingual school, throughout this educational stage, our students perfect their English skills and those of other optional languages taught at the school, such as French.
Cambridge Program
All our students from Primary Education to the last years of Pre-University level, receive Cambridge exam preparation classes during school hours at no additional cost. Taking the Cambridge exams is optional, and the exam fees are paid by the student family.
Cognita School
Being a part of an International Educational Group like Cognita offers our students the opportunity to interact with other schools from different countries and cultures.
Erasmus+
The school participates in the Erasmus+ project, through which students engage in language immersion experiences using English as the vehicular language and discovering new cultures through travel or connections with schools from other countries.

The MYP is delivered throughout Secondary Education, offering a balanced education that integrates academic knowledge, skills development, and personal growth.
The curriculum includes core areas — such as mathematics, sciences, languages, and humanities — alongside creative, sports, and technological subjects. This interdisciplinary approach enables students to make connections between subjects, deepen understanding, and develop key competencies for their academic and personal future.
Our educational approach places students at the center of learning, fostering autonomy, responsibility, and reflection. Through active methodologies — such as project-based learning, collaborative work, and analytical thinking — students understand what they learn and apply it meaningfully.
English learning is a fundamental part of Secondary Education at Mirasur School. Students receive solid and progressive training, with eight weekly English sessions, including specific Cambridge preparation and dedicated speaking practice.
By the end of Year 11 (4º ESO), all students sit official Cambridge Assessment English exams, achieving outstanding results: around 80% reach B2 level and 30% achieve C1 or higher.
We offer continuous academic and emotional support. Students benefit from personalized tutoring, academic and personal guidance, and the support of our counseling and psychology department. This coordinated work between teachers, tutors, and families ensures that each student’s individual needs are met and supports their well-being and progress.
