On Friday, March 18, 2022, the film “Las Cebras” was premiered, which addresses the reality of giftedness and high abilities, aiming to raise awareness about this community.

 

Laura García and Vanesa Mendoza from Mirasur School provide their perspective on the important role that educational institutions play in the development and growth of individuals with high abilities.

 

Laura García, Primary Education Counselor, and Vanesa Mendoza, Technical Director of Primary Education at Mirasur School, participate in the documentary “Las Cebras,” offering their professional testimony regarding the important role that educational centers play in identifying and supporting students with high abilities.

 

The documentary also features students and family members who are part of our school and who showcase the challenges and difficulties that individuals with high abilities face on a daily basis, as well as the challenge posed to both schools and families in supporting a gifted person.

 

Laura and Vanesa emphasize the importance of educational institutions having a personalized learning model that caters to diversity and considers students’ interests. They also highlight in their statements that emotional support and monitoring are crucial.

 

In the case of Mirasur School, this work is carried out through various aspects of school life, such as the Children’s Council or School Mediation, family tutorials, one-on-one meetings with the tutor, assemblies, Family Schools, welcoming activities, and end-of-day sessions, as shared by students and parents of the school in the documentary.
