Mirasur School Recognised as a Google Education Premier Reference School
Mirasur School has been recognised as a Google Education Premier Reference School, a certification that acknowledges schools demonstrating the highest level of innovation in the use of Google technologies for learning.
With this recognition, Mirasur School becomes one of the first schools in the world to receive this distinction within the international network of institutions collaborating with Google for Education.
The partnership between Mirasur School and Google began in 2018, and in 2019 the school became the first Google Reference School in Spain. This new Premier Reference School certification represents another step forward in the school’s commitment to educational innovation.
An Educational Innovation Lab
Google defines Premier Reference Schools as institutions that not only use its technological tools, but also transform the way students learn, think and solve problems, becoming international benchmarks for educational innovation.
As part of this network, Mirasur School works directly with Google to develop, test and evaluate next-generation learning environments. In this context, the school has become a space for pedagogical experimentation where, in some cases, both students and teachers are among the first in the world to try new educational tools before their global launch.
A key role in this process is played by Miguel Ujeda, Director of Innovation at Mirasur School and founder of GEG Spain (Google Educator Group), who leads the development of the school’s technological project and its collaboration with Google for Education.
Innovation with Security and Responsibility
Technology integration at Mirasur School is always implemented from a safe, ethical and responsible perspective. Advanced tools — including Artificial Intelligence solutions such as Gemini — are used within a protected digital environment, a “walled garden” that ensures the privacy and security of both students’ and teachers’ data.
Within this framework, the school has also developed a specific training programme that includes professional development for teachers and learning initiatives for students, enabling the responsible and pedagogical integration of AI in the classroom. The programme also includes workshops and guidance sessions for families, helping them understand and support their children in this new technological landscape.
This recognition is the result of the collective effort of the entire educational community: the continuous professional development of teachers, the curiosity and engagement of students, and the constant support of families.
““For us, technology is never an end in itself, but a tool to improve our students’ learning. “This recognition reinforces our commitment to an education that combines innovation, critical thinking and the responsible use of digital tools.” says Pedro Sampedro, Head of School at Mirasur School.
With this certification, Mirasur School strengthens its position as one of the leading schools in technological innovation applied to education, becoming part of an international network that is shaping the future of learning.
